Veeva Claims is an application used to manage the challenge of developing, reviewing and approving product claims in the consumer goods and chemical industries and is designed for all parties that design, develop, review and approve, distribute, and localize product claims, including internal stakeholders across departments and external partners.
Veeva Claims helps organizations accelerate speed to market, increase reuse of product claims, and expand the impact of claims while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Users are typically either regulatory or legal reviewers who are responsible for reviewing claims from a regulatory or legal standpoint to make sure they are free of errors. These users are assigned to review tasks and are expected to recommend changes as needed.
Veeva Claims is part of the Vault RegulatoryOne family of applications. Within a single Vault, your organization can have one (1), two (2), or all of these applications.
Features
Veeva Claims is built on Vault and includes the Platform features described in Vault Help for Platform. In addition, it provides the following features:
- Statement Library: A statement is a standalone desired message, such as “100% Organic.” Statements are not tied to a product. Veeva Claims provides the ability for organizations to create a statement library of desired messages (including statements for each required language translation or dialect variants) which can be reused when creating claims.
- Claims Management: Claims are statements about a product that brands use to make brands more desirable and influence purchasing decisions. Veeva Claims provides the ability for organizations to accelerate substantiation, review, and approval process. Veeva Claims also accelerates product line extensions by providing the ability to copy claims from one (1) product to another. Electronic signatures and audit trails provide a clear line of sight to the approval process history and supporting assets, greatly reducing legal and regulatory risk for an organization if a claim is challenged. Configurable workflows allow organizations to design approval processes specific to their needs.
- Local Adaptation Management: Veeva Claims provides the ability to create local adaptations of claims in order to review and approve claims for a product in different locations. Local Adaptation records contain all information for a local adaptation from a Claim record, including Statement text, adapted for different locations.
- Project Management: Veeva Claims enables brand managers to initiate a project and group claims pertaining to a particular initiative in a project so that key R&D, regulatory, and legal stakeholders can track and work on the related claims as a group. Users have the option to add and create claims and local adaptations in bulk, including the option to create claims in bulk for selected statement and product combinations and to create local adaptations in bulk for selected location and claim combinations. Users can also remove unwanted statements and related claims and local adaptations from a project with a single action. Project Management also provides users with a project hierarchy viewer so that users can view and navigate through all related records within the context of a Project to make an informed assessment.
- Pack Copy Management: Veeva Claims provides the ability to manage all content that appears on packaging labels, including the ability to generate local pack copies for multiple locations from a global pack copy and check for missing localization elements before generation. Users can reuse element translations across multiple local pack copies in different geographical markets. Brand marketers can create and manage content such as claims, logos, corporate addresses, or usage instructions and organize the pack copy content by levels and panels. Translators can review elements and provide translations for local pack copies. Pack Copy Management also provides a hierarchy viewer and navigator so that users can view all packaging levels and panels on a single page.
Data Model
Veeva Claims shares some common data model components with other RegulatoryOne applications, which allows you to consolidate data for all of these applications in a single Vault. This is not a complete list of all Veeva Claims objects but provides some explanation of important core objects in the data model. See About Veeva Claims Objects for a list of all standard objects.
Depending on your Vault’s configuration, object labels may appear differently than the labels mentioned in this article.
Key Objects
In addition to the shared RegulatoryOne data model, the Veeva Claims application has additional objects to house data. This is a list of core Veeva Claims objects, but it does not include all objects:

- Claim: This object represents an individual claim, and contains information about the statement, the footnote (fine print), and the product to which the claim applies.
- Local Adaptation: This object represents an adaptation of a Claim record, adapted for a specific location.
- Substantiation: This object represents non-document substantiation content.
- Project: This object represents a project.
Pack Copy Objects
- Pack Copy: This object represents a pack copy, including the product to which the pack copy applies, the locations for the pack copy, and whether a pack copy is global or local.
- Packaging Level: This object represents the packaging level.
- Panel: This object represents pack copy panels.
- Element: This object represents text or image content to use on packaging, and contains information about the element language, location, global element (for local elements), and local adaptation information.
