# Populating a Project with Claims (Veeva Claims)
Veeva Claims provides the ability to populate a _Project_ with _Claims_. Depending on your Admin's configuration, you may have multiple options for populating the _Project_ with _Claims_:
* [Add multiple _Claims_ to a _Project_][6] using a bulk action from the _Claims Library_.
* [Create selective _Claims_][1] for specified _Product_ and _Statement_ combinations using a single action on a _Project_.
* [Create multiple _Claims_ in bulk][3] from a _Project_ using a single action on a _Project_.
* [Add claims to a _Project_][4] by adding existing _Claims_, or creating new _Claims_ from within the _Project_.
* [Assign available _Claims_][5] related to a _Product's_ hierarchy to a specific _Project_.
**Note**: Depending on your Admin's configuration, you may not have the _Statement_ object in your Vault.
Depending on your Admin's configuration, object, field, and section labels may appear differently than the labels mentioned in this article.
## Adding Claims in Bulk {#add-in-bulk}
You can add multiple existing _Claims_ to a _Project_ using the _Add to Project_ action. Vault generates the following records based on your selections when completing the action:
* One (1) _Claim Project_ for each unique combination of _Claim_ and _Project_.
* One (1) _Project Statement_ for each unique combination of _Statement_ and _Project_.
* One (1) _Project Product_ for each unique combination of _Project_ and _Product_ associated with the selected _Claims_.
This action does not create duplicate records. If a combination already exists, Vault will not generate a new record for that combination.
### How to Add Claims in Bulk {#add-in-bulk-how}
To add _Claims_ in bulk to a _Project_:
1. Navigate to the _Claims_ tab.
2. Optional: Set filters to narrow down the list of _Claims_ you want to add to a specific project. You can add up to 1,000 _Claims_ at once.
3. From the **All Actions** menu, select the option to perform a bulk action.
4. On the _Refine Selection_ page, review the list of selected records and clear the checkboxes for any _Claims_ you do not want to add.
5. Click **Next**.
6. On the _Choose Action_ page, select R**ecord Actions** in the _Manage Records_ section.
7. Click **Next**.
8. On the _Choose Record Action_ page, select **Add to Project**.
9. Click **Next**.
10. On the _Details_ page, select the **Project** to which you want to add the _Claims_.
11. Optional: Click the **More search options** (
) icon to open the _Search: Select Project_ dialog.
12. Use the search box and _Filters_ to find a specific Project.
13. Select the applicable _Project_.
14. Click **Close**.
15. Click **Next**.
16. On the _Confirmation_ page, review the summary of changes and click **Finish**.
When Vault finishes generating records, you'll receive an email and a Vault notification letting you know if the action was successful or if there were any errors. All successful additions are now included in the _Claims_ section of the selected _Project_ record.
## Selectively Creating Claims {#selective-claims}
Vault generates one (1) _Claim_ for each specified combination of _Statement_ and _Product_, provided the combination of _Statement_ and _Product_ does not already exist as a _Claim_ in your Vault. This action is available only if the _Project_ has at least one (1) _Statement_ and one (1) _Product_ added to the _Project_.
### Using the Selectively Create Claims Dialog {#claims-dialog}
The _Selectively Create Claims_ dialog opens after you select the _Create Selective Claims_ action and allows you to select which _Statements_ to use to create _Claims_ for specified _Products_. All _Products_ added to the _Project_ are available to select in the dialog.
In the dialog, you can do the following:
* Select the _Statements_ for which you want to create _Claims_ for all _Products_ on the _Project_.
* Filter on a specific _Product_ and then select the _Statements_ for which you want to create _Claims_ for that specific _Product_. You can repeat this process for every _Product_.
* Hover over cells to see the entire contents of values with more than 250 characters.
_Statements_ you select for a specific _Product_ remain selected when you select and view another _Product_. The number of records selected in the counter displays the records selected for the current _Product_ and in the drop-down for each _Product_.
The columns in the _Selectively Create Claims_ dialog are _Statement_ fields configured by your Admin. You can use the search box to search for text values in any of the columns displayed in the dialog except for _Number_, _Date_, _Yes/No_, and _Currency_ field types.
**Note**: The creation process adheres to your permissions and lets you view only the records to which you have access.
### How to Create Selective Claims
To selectively create _Claims_ from a _Project_:
1. Navigate to the _Project_ from which you want to create selective _Claims_.
2. Expand the _Statements_ section, and then click **Add**.
3. Select the appropriate _Statement_ and then click **OK**.
4. Expand the _Products_ section, and then click **Add**.
5. Select the appropriate _Products_, and then click **OK**. The combination of _Statement_ and _Product_ must be unique to your Vault.
6. From the **All Actions** menu, select **Create Selective Claims**.
7. Select the applicable _Statements_ for which you want to generate _Claims_:
* Select **All Products** from the drop-down to view all available _Statements_.
* Select a specific _Product_ from the drop-down to view its related _Statements_. You can also enter text in the drop-down to filter _Products_ available for selection.
* Use the search bar to filter results by specific terms for specific _Statements_.
8. Click **Next**.
9. Review your selections on the _Confirmation_ page.
* Click on a **Toggle Row Expanded** () icon to expand that _Statement's_ section and view product details.
10. When you are finished reviewing, click **Finish**.
After receiving a notification that the _Claims_ have been created, you can expand the _Claims_ section on the _Project's_ details page to view the generated _Claims_.
**Note**: Generated _Claims_ have a _Created By_ value of "System".
### Limitations {#limitations}
The _Create Claims Run As System_ action generates up to 2,000 _Claims_ for up to 200 _Statements_ and up to 50 _Products_. We recommend using the [_Bulk Create Claims (Project)_ action][3] to create _Claims_ in bulk if you need to generate more _Claims_ than what this action supports.
## Creating Claims from a Project in Bulk {#bulk-create-claim}
If your Vault includes _Statements_, you can generate multiple _Claims_ at the same time which are automatically included in the _Project_ from which you generated the _Claims_. Vault generates one (1) _Claim_ for each combination of _Statement_, _Product_, and _Scope_, provided the combination of _Statement_, _Product_, and _Scope_ does not already exist as a _Claim_.
**Note**: The creation process adheres to your permissions and lets you view and create only the records to which you have read and create access.
To bulk create _Claims_ from a _Project_:
1. Navigate to the _Project_ from which you want to generate _Claims_.
2. Expand the **Statements** section, and then click **Create**.
3. Click the advanced search icon, and select the appropriate _Statement_.
4. In the drop-down, select the **Scope** for the _Statement_. _Scope_ indicates which product classification level (for example: brand, sub-brand, or product) to join the _Statement_ to.
5. Click **Save** or to add another _Statement_, click **Save + Create**.
6. Expand the _Products_ section, and then click **Add**.
7. Select the appropriate _Products_, and then click **OK**. The combination of _Statement_ and _Product_ must be unique to your Vault.
8. From the **All Actions** menu, select **Bulk Create Claims (Project)**.
9. Expand the **Claims** section to view the generated _Claims_.
**Note**: If you don\'t see the _Bulk Create Claims (Project)_ option on the **All Actions** menu, the action may be part of an entry action. If available, select **Change State** from the **Workflow Actions** menu to change the _Project's_ state and trigger the entry action.
## Adding a Claim to a Project {#add-claims}
You can add individual _Claims_ to a _Project_ by adding existing _Claims_ or by creating new _Claims_.
To add claims to a _Project_:
1. Navigate to the _Project_ to which you want to add _Claims_.
2. Expand the **Claims** section, and then click **Add**.
3. To add an existing _Claim_, locate the _Claim_ and then click on the **plus** (**+**) icon next to the _Claim_. You can use the search bar or filters to help find the _Claim_ you want to add.
4. To create a new _Claim_ and add it to the _Project_, click **Create** and then provide the details for the new _Claim_.
5. When you are finished adding _Claims_ to the _Project_, click **OK**.
## Assigning Available Product Claims {#assign}
You can use the _Assign Available Claims_ action to selectively generate new _Claims_ based on existing _Claims_ within a _Product's_ hierarchy for a specific _Project_. See Working with Claims Management for more details about assigning available product _Claims_ to a _Project_.
