A single document page may have multiple anchor annotations on the same or adjacent text or area. Vault provides an option to merge some or all anchor annotations on a single page into one (1). Doing so also updates existing references to target the newly merged anchor annotation. This is helpful when users have created redundant anchors on the same content.
To merge anchors:
- Open a document with multiple anchors and click Annotate. If the document already has annotations, it will open in Annotate mode by default.
- Click the Annotation Tools icon and select Merge Anchors.
- Click and drag your cursor across the area of the document that contains the anchors you want to merge.
- The Merge Anchors dialog opens.
- From the dialog, select a named anchor to merge other selected anchors with.
- Use the checkboxes to select the anchors to merge. As you select anchors, Vault highlights them in the document viewer.
- Click Merge.
Related Permissions
To merge anchors on a document, you must have a security profile with the Viewer Administration: Merge Anchors permission and have the Annotate and Create Anchors permissions on the document.
